Can anyone help me with this sentence please? I have to put the verbs in brackets in the correct tense
Situation: I am speaking with one friend about what happened yesterday.
Yesterday, he just (get) home when you (phone). He (be) in Paris.
And I have done this like this:
Yesterday he had just got home when you phoned. He had been in Paris.
Is this correct? If I put the verb "be" in the past simple, is it correct too?
If yes, can you explain me why?
Thank you very much

your answers are correct. you could also write : he was just getting home.
your answer means he has been home for a few momets, this one means he was just arriving. he had been could be used but i would prefer he was as obviously the action is over and the time of it is known, as he has just returned
I would like to send you a smiley but don't know how
