    Bac/Locations and forms of power
    Message de popy posté le 30-04-2017 à 11:41:51 (S | E | F)
    Bonjour,
est-ce-que quelqu'un pourrait me corriger les fautes s'il vous plait?
    Merci pour vos réponses!

Well, let me consider the following notion « Locations and forms of power».

First, let me give a simple definition of location and power. A location is a specific region of the world such as a city, a country, etc. Power is the capacity to have some control over a place or people, lawfully or by force. There are various forms of power structres such as republics in which people live freely, or dictatorships in which citizens are submitted to coercion. These forms have differents consequences on citizens' everyday lives of courses.
I'd like to illustrate this notion through an interesting topic, that are the sixties.
Thus, we may wonder to what extend the sixties were a great era of changes ? My presentation will fall in 2 parts : first we will talk about the social change and then the cultural change.

    I _ Social change
First, the sixties were a decade of social change. Indeed, for the first time, there were more young people than old and, representing a powerful economic and cultural force, they swept everything else aside. People started to try out drugs (like LSD or heroine).
We can also observe a change of behavior. In the « Time's cover » on the left part people are joyful, they have fun. They seems very happy whereas in the right part people are calm, well-behaved, they look bored.
In this years, we could observe an evolution of people's way of life. The life improves. There was a technological revolution. Colors on TV appeared, or transitor radios like in « The boat that rocked ». Also, despite of sexual freedom, also observable in the movie, the uptake of the pill became common.
In the cover of the Time, the old London is represented with historical monuments and people of the power while the young part we see discotheque and a famous singer. The society was against the traditionnal culture or the established society. There was a gap between people and the power. This fact is observable in « The boat that rocked ». The governement made the pirates outlaws. Pirates decided to break the law and the establishment were worried about losing the control.
The sixties were also the decade of consumerism. According to « The times are changing », brands changed their way to communicate and people consume more. Their purchasing power increased and it is the creation of supermarkets. The sixties mark a change in the ways of thinking of the societies. The social conditions improve.

    II _ Cultural change
The sixties were an era of cultural change. This period saw the birth of a new fashion style. As we can see in the movie « The boat that rocked » the boys were long-haired, girls are wearing mini-skirt and more generaly clothes were colorful. Moreover, the « Time's cover » published in april 1966 shows us 2 differents London. On the left part we can see the young London, this part represente the sixties. People are wearing oversize glasses and oversize shirts and clothes are colorful. It is completely different on the other side of the cover. People are well-dressed, they are wearing tuxedo. In addition, the text « The times are changing » which come from an english website, alludes to Twiggy and Mary Quant. Twiggy was a super model of the sixties and Mary Quant was a designer of the mini-skirt. They made of London the fashion capital of the world.
Furthermore, during the sixties new music styles appeared. For example, in the movie « The boat that rocked », pirates broadcast rock'n'roll music. In the text « The times are changing » the author speaks about 2 famous band, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, which both marked the sixties.
The rock'n'roll, the folk rock or the pop music were new in this period and people loved them. Music were more free and it was committed. It was an interesting and a difficult period because the young raised in some conflit (like Vietnam war, etc..). They manifested by the culture of hippies during the Woodstock Festival in 1969. It was a cheeky time. It was like a peacefull revolution, in fields like music, fashion, literature, art, ..

In conclusion, during the sixties, The United Kingdom is in revolution. Drugs appears, rock'n'roll too and freedom is more present than in the past. A new way of life and consumerism come up. We can say that the sixties were a decade of major social and cultural changes.
