    Possessive nouns/help
    Message from mohammad51 posted on 03-10-2020 at 15:09:28 (D | E | F)
    Hello
I got this quiz online, so please, perhaps one teacher could review my answers.
    Thank you in advance.

Now we are going to practise using the apostrophe for possession. Think about who owns what in these sentences.
Be careful, some words are plural and do not need an apostrophe.

    11) Peters shoes were filthy dirty after the walk through the forest.
    Answer : Peter's shoes were ......
    12) The policemans jacket was bright yellow.
Answer: The policeman's jacket was ....
    13) The telephones ring echoed in the empty hallway.
Ans: This is I don't agree with using apostrophe ?
    14) The Primer Ministers car was hit by an egg.
Ans: The Primer Minister's car was .....
    15) Mr. Nelsons bag was full of all sorts of useful things.
    Ans : Mr.Nelson's bag
    16) The wardrobes doors were clinging on to the hinges.
Ans : This is also I don't agree with using apostrophe. ?
    17) The dentists office was full of people with toothache.
Ans: The dentist's office was .....
    18) West Hams captain scored the winning goal.
Ans : West Ham's captain \ West Ham captain (( I see both are acceptable )
    19) The childrens school dinners were delicious.
Ans: children's school dinners .... And perhaps we add to school as well ?
    20) Hundreds of people packed in to the hall to hear the Mayors speech.
Ans ...... to hear the mayor's speech OK

    Hello
Thank you very much dear teacher gerold, and you agreed with me

I commented to their topic( it is not always we use the apostrophe or the apostrophe is not always necessary to use)
For the sentence" 13) The telephones ring echoed in the empty hallway."
Of course their answer or their suggestion is : The telephone's ring X
    ring = noun = sound
I suggested it is better to rewrite it as :

The telephone rang and echoed in the empty hallway= very common sentence.

The site is here : I rated ??
