in my dictionary I just found : whammy = mauvais sort, poisse ;)

in fact, whammy means "la poisse", but when I used this word, it's mostly to refer to the game played on TV in the USA and titled "press your luck". traviskidd had just talked about, and after searching about it on the net, I had an idea of what it's about. only an idea. then I noticed that the "whammy" is deserved to the losers. and it is so awful !!!

Yes! You take a turn, and you can try to get more money. But if you get the whammy, you lose all the money you already had! And the whammy dances while he takes your money!
As you can see from the link serena put, there is a new version of the game called "Whammy!" It's good, but I will always have nostalgia for the original!
